What to do when your laptop monitor goes blank

For today’s post, I want to touch about computer technical problem. Since last week I was struggling to repair my laptop which I borrowed for a while from my brother while I’m working at JB here. Actually I’m not familiar with laptop. Just a little knowledge about it. The problem is I need internet connection to do my work. So my laptop has become vulnerable to the virus attack.

I think since last two weeks, I have formatted this laptop twice and it is tricky to do this because I need to backup all the data first especially my bro’s files. So I need to do this and that before I can format it normally and after that I need to install back the drivers and all the softwares needed. However, yesterday I got a problem again. My video driver might be corrupted and the monitor became unstable. Each time I tried to run a game which requires high graphic, the monitor display will stuck and after I restart, it will become dark (black display) eventhough the hard drive is running and I can hear the Windows starting sound. If I shut down the laptop and then turn on it back, the display will still remain blank. I tried everything to recover it back but it's still not working. I was afraid that if the LCD panel is broken, then my money for sure will fly away… However, after doing some research, then I found a really good solution for this problem. I don’t remember which forum I entered but it seems that many people are having the same problem like mine. The good thing is the solution is so simple until even the computer technical specialist was impressed with that guy who found the solution.

So, if next time you are having a problem that your laptop monitor display suddenly goes blank which is no light at all, you just need to turn off your laptop, unplug the power cable, remove the battery, and hold the power button for 30-60 seconds. After that plug in your power cable back and try to boot. If ok, just shut down and put your battery back (if you want to which I suggest you remove the battery if you want to use the power cable). That’s it.

That method really works for me and lots of people in that forum. However, if it is not working, maybe there are other problems with the monitor such as bad inverter or corrupted mainboard. So I hope this solution will help you out if you have this problem someday…

All you need to know about PayPal

What is PayPal?

PayPal is an e-commerce business allowing payments and money transfers to be made through the Internet. PayPal serves as an electronic alternative to traditional paper methods such as checks and money orders.

A PayPal account can be funded with an electronic debit from a bank account, credit card or a debit card. PayPal is an example of a payment intermediary service that facilitates worldwide e-commerce. There are also several e-commerce businesses in Malaysia that using the same method likes PayPal such as Maybank2u online and CIMB Click.

Why use PayPal?

PayPal lets anyone with an e-mail address send online payments securely and the personal accounts are free. PayPal also can be used internationally and the transaction is easy, quick and safe. I used to pay my Rapidshare account dealer with PayPal and I have no problem with it so far.

How to open a personal PayPal account?

To open a personal PayPal account, you must provide your name, address, phone number and e-mail address. To make payments using PayPal, you must provide a credit card or debit card number or bank account information. PayPal accepts VISA, MasterCard, Discover and American Express and Diners Club cards with the MasterCard logo for this purpose. PayPal will keep your information safe by hiding your credit card or bank account number from the recipients.

However, for Malaysians I suggest that you use Tunemoney Visa Debit Card (Tune Card) to validate your PayPal account. Why? Because it is a debit card, so you don’t have to worry much about fraud. I know that some of you don’t really trust the e-commerce. So we better play safe by using debit cards rather than credit cards. I usually top up my Tune Card around RM100-RM200 only. Enough to buy a few Rapidshare accounts and if someone tries to hack my Paypal account, they will not gain much from it. But I hope that will not happen lar.. Another reason why you should use Tune Card is because it has been proved that it can be used to cash out your PayPal money. However, it’s up to you to choose since nowadays PayPal has launched a new withdrawal feature, allowing you to transfer funds from your PayPal account to your Visa branded credit, debit or prepaid card. Be aware also that not all debit and credit cards from banks in Malaysia are accepted for withdrawal from PayPal. Some of them even cannot be used to verify your Paypal account.
